THE VILLAGE
The rent-house is in charming village of wooden stilt-houses.… From the village, enjoy scenic view across Wa River Valley to beautiful Lao Border Mountains (1800m). At village shop, you can buy basic supplies, beer & whiskey & make phone calls. The Buddhist villagers, who also worship spirits, are extremely friendly & easy-going.
VILLAGE ACTIVITIES

- All year: buffalo & ox herding, hunting, partying & rituals
- Mid-April for 2 weeks: Songkran Thai New Year Festival & rocket firing
- May-June: sweet corn planting, mango harvest
- June-August: gathering wild bamboo shoots, wild mushrooms & wild vegetables in monsoon jungle
- July-August: sticky rice planting
- September-October: sweet corn harvest
- October-November: sticky rice harvest
- January-February: tamarind, peanuts, soy beans
SLEEPY LOCAL TOWN˝ hour ride into Maejarim, on jungle-edge in lush valley with rice paddies, old Lanna temples, market, shops, excellent restaurant & noodle shops.
MAEJARIM NATIONAL PARK
400 square kms of protected jungle & beautiful Wa River….. no entry fee….. Great for swimming, rafting & jungle trekking…. private sunbathing on sandy beaches ….
